Starting a journey on living healthy is not an easy step to take. Continuing on that journey is even tougher. You will need to be consistent, persevere, be patient and learn how to psych yourself often. You’ll think that after one month of being consistent I would be used to exercising and eating healthy- Nah! I started relaxing especially after I finally decided to check my weight- I HAD LOST 7KG!!!! In April, I know I weighed between 79-77 kg and just last week I checked it was 70kg. I celebrated with an ice-cream and cake!!! Continue reading
Thank God it’s Friday! No time during the week to exercise and keep your body fit? Tomorrow is Saturday and what can be more exciting than working out to P-Square – Personally! In this workout you’ll be working out your Shoulders, Chest, Triceps and Abs. That’s a lot of sweating and burning calories!
Since you probably have the weekend off, get off your butt and get a workout in!
My journey so far- rocky but rewarding. As the week goes by, it gets easier that there’s a strong temptation to relax. This is my 3rd week and going STRONG.
My goals last week:
- Exercise 5 days a week for 45mins
- Include some core exercises
- Do 100 skips a day
- Drink 1.5L water a day
- Go to bed by 11.30pm (Lord Help Me!)
You would think that by now this journey would have gotten easier- NO! It’s like the temptation this week came with full force and the fast food advertisement on the TV was not helping either! I wanted sugar BADLY! I just wanted to give up. The urge was so strong to throw in the towel. But… I persevered…

My Journey to Healthy Living: Food and I redefined our relationship! by Joy Ezeka
This week has been amazing! I went throughout the whole week without eating or drinking anything that has artificial sugar, no caffeine, no carbs, no chocolates, no pastries, no McDonald’s and I feel awesome! I feel so much lighter! Like I said last week in my post, I am not going to starve myself or follow all that loose-weight-gimmicks but I am going to take proper steps to living healthy.
This week my health regimen has been:
Drinking Lots of Water. I’m not used to drinking water that when I drink water I almost gag. So, to make it easy for me, I filled up a 1.5L bottle, squeezed fresh lemons in it and also cut slices of lemon and dunked in it. I try to drink it all up by the end of the day. Sometimes I don’t but it’s a habit my body is getting used to.
Drinking Green Tea. I’m a huge coffee drinker. Coffee gives me that oomph! My daily booster! But the problem was that, I have about 3 cups of coffee with lots of sugar in it in one day. See what I was doing to myself! Now I just drink my green tea with slices of lemon in it. Wasn’t so easy first. Last week, I had coffee withdrawal syndrome, but this week I haven’t craved coffee at all!
Eating Early! I’m a late eater and sometimes at 12 am, I will still eat food! That’s how much I love food! Nothing wrong with that at all. What matters is, loving food right. So me and food, we sat down and redefined our relationship so that we can be the best for each other! We decided that we will only meet no later than 7 pm and nothing more! If I get peckish I go to my dear bottle of water and drink or I munch on a carrot stick lovingly!
Fruits and Veggies Are My New Friends! I couldn’t get enough of them this week. Oranges, Apples, Banana (once a day), Pawpaw, Grapes, Carrots, Lettuce and Cucumber. These really helped especially for those peckish moments when I craved chocolates or a McDonald’s Double Pounder. Oh Lord! Just writing that makes me want to run out and get one but I can’t 😦 So I’m just going to imagine sinking my teeth in that hamburger and move on!
Exercise! That one is a very hard something for me but I am determined! My exercise routine this week was jogging for 30 mins, skipping and a workout routine from Adagurl’s YouTube Channel. I included skipping in my exercise routine-50 skips a day for now and for my workout routine, the first day I tried the workout routine to Brymo’s song, Go Hard, by Adagurl, I thought I was going to die! I couldn’t complete a routine! But by the third time I did it, it was bit easier but still my whole body just didn’t want to bend in the right places! But I’m not giving up! I am a determined somebody this time!

My Journey to Healthy Living Starts TODAY! by Joy Ezeka
Recently I’ve been concerned about my health and living healthy especially as I’m getting older. Watching what I eat, when I eat and exercising. I must say, it takes a lot of discipline to go down that route- reducing my sugar intake, junk food consumption, and eating late at night. But also know that all that is nothing if I don’t add an exercise regimen to my journey to healthy living. I am no expert but I’ve come to the conclusion that I can adopt a healthy lifestyle where I don’t have to starve my self or follow all that loose-weight-gimmicks. It’s just going to take a lot of determination and discipline to stay on track!
Just discovered Adagurl’s fitness channel on YouTube and I am excited! One, because the routines are done to Nigerian songs (Naija for life!) and also it kinda looks easy (I hope so!). So I’m going to try this ⇓, this weekend!
In this workout routine, I will get to do:
Hips to knee-height (or lower). Put weights in your heels. Abs braced. Chest up. Knees behind toes.
Abs braced. Shoulders back and down. Chest lifted. Hips down. Kick feet as far back as possible. Stand straight up to complete.
Abs braced. Hips down. Shoulders back and down. Keep the upper body still the entire time. No bouncing.
Taking these first steps will ultimately bring me one step closer to better fitness and health! Try it out and let me know how it went and also let me know what your health challenges are and how you deal with them. Would love to hear from you!
