Starting a journey on living healthy is not an easy step to take. Continuing on that journey is even tougher. You will need to be consistent, persevere, be patient and learn how to psych yourself often. You’ll think that after one month of being consistent I would be used to exercising and eating healthy- Nah! I started relaxing especially after I finally decided to check my weight- I HAD LOST 7KG!!!! In April, I know I weighed between 79-77 kg and just last week I checked it was 70kg. I celebrated with an ice-cream and cake!!!
One exercise I have incorporated daily to my fitness routine is walking. Did you know that when you walk you enter the fat-burning zone, especially when you walk at a set pace? Now you know! I have been walking more than using transport and I’m always so happy when I reach my destination! I feel so much lighter. Before when I walk or move, it felt like I was carrying my body but now it’s the other way round- me and my body we are in sync! I walk up the stairs and my heart don’t feel like it’s going to jump off my chest again! I’m getting there! I still haven’t been able to achieve most of the goals I set like, going to bed early or drinking lots of water and I still drink lots of coffee with lots of sugar *handscoveringmyface*- BUT- I am not letting that keep me down as long as every day, I take steps towards living a healthy lifestyle. Someday soon, I would overcome!
On a serious note, this journey wasn’t just about losing weight. I knew I had gotten to a stage in my life that if I didn’t take care of my health, it might be too late and I would be singing songs that had phrases like “I wish”, “Had I known” or “Wish I can turn back the hands of time”! So, since I don’t want to be singing them sad songs later, I best psych myself up and remember why I started out on this journey- for longer healthier life so that my son, my husband and my family will have me around for a very, very long time to come and more so, I really want to fit into that beautiful size 10 dress!
So to motivate me in the coming week, I am going to my favourite fitness trainer- Ada Ari! Going to rock this exercise to WizKid – Untop Your Matter!
In this track, we will be doing the:
Push off from the balls of your feet. Land with your knees bent and hips back to absorb impact and work harder
Feet hip distance apart. Long stride between your feet. Bend your back knee towards a 90° angle
Chest up, abs braced. Push your hips back and bend your knee. Aim to bring your butt above knee-height
Chest up, abs braced. Hands up to keep your torso/upper body still. Bend your knees and push your hips back and down. Move your feet out and in as quickly as you can.
