My Journey to Healthy Living Starts TODAY! by Joy Ezeka

Recently I’ve been concerned about my health and living healthy especially as I’m getting older. Watching what I eat, when I eat and exercising. I must say, it takes a lot of discipline to go down that route- reducing my sugar intake, junk food consumption, and eating late at night. But also know that all that is nothing if I don’t add an exercise regimen to my journey to healthy living. I am no expert but I’ve come to the conclusion that I can adopt a healthy lifestyle where I don’t have to starve my self or follow all that loose-weight-gimmicks. It’s just going to take a lot of determination and discipline to stay on track!

Just discovered Adagurl’s fitness channel on YouTube and I am excited! One, because the routines are done to Nigerian songs (Naija for life!) and also it kinda looks easy (I hope so!). So I’m going to try this ⇓, this weekend!

In this workout routine, I will get to do:

SQUATS:
Hips to knee-height (or lower). Put weights in your heels. Abs braced. Chest up. Knees behind toes.

BURPEES:
Abs braced. Shoulders back and down. Chest lifted. Hips down. Kick feet as far back as possible. Stand straight up to complete.

HOVERS:
Abs braced. Hips down. Shoulders back and down. Keep the upper body still the entire time. No bouncing.

Taking these first steps will ultimately bring me one step closer to better fitness and health! Try it out and let me know how it went and also let me know what your health challenges are and how you deal with them. Would love to hear from you!

  1. Joy, I loved this! The music was very upbeat! Like yourself, I too, have struggled with food and exercise and finding what works best for my body. I’ve tried diets, cleanses, over-exercising and depriving myself of food. I’m a HUGE foodie, none the less, and have figured out the only way to be healthy and in shape is by discipline and knowing when to limit myself. I love to snack at night and I’ve noticed the extra pounds come on when I either eat too much at night or skip exercising all together. When I’m working on my novels, it’s hard to find the time to exercise because I have a fulltime job. So the only free time I have is in the early morning which can only be dedicated to either writing or exercising.
    I’ve learned to balance everything though. I’m keeping a healthy weight now with exercise and not over-indulging. But all in all, this is the only way to really keep off the added weight. Thanks for sharing! It was hard for me to find you!

    1. Hi Gina!!! Thank God you found me then! I still haven’t learned to balance exercising and work, that one is so hard for me, I really wish I could exercise early in the morning but Alas! Mornings are hard for me! So I try to exercise at-least 45 minutes after work and this week I’ve included jogging in my routine.Thanks for sharing with me your routine!
